Equity and Inclusivity must center the intersectionalities of racial and gender identities, otherwise how are we going to heal from the exclusion and inequities that continually harm our humanity on a daily basis? Racial healing has been described as a process of healing from the cumulative effects of racism (individual and societal) most likely caused by miseducation, separation, and disunity. Peace circles are a different way of talking about race/ism that is relational, preemptive, and proactive.
The circle process taps into both ancient practices and modern processes to create trust and belonging by first exploring shared values, agreeing on guidelines, or spending time building relationships and an understanding of each other.
