Storytelling has been at the heart of community & learning. Many educators lament the responsibilities put on their plates—and rightly so. What if we could take some things off the plate? Yes, there is a place for SEL curriculum, but typically it falls within one particular subject area. However, this siloing can cause the sidelining of SEL work. In this session, we will explore our core values through storytelling. We will delve into examples & practice how to story tell. Additionally, this session will offer strategies to develop relationships & trust.

I will share examples from the field and the way Indigenous and communities of color use storyteller to learn and connect. Learners will have the opportunity to explore the idea of storytelling and how it can influence how and sometimes what we teach. We will participate in learning deeply in a world of soundbites and TikTok. Additionally, this session will offer strategies to develop relationships & trust.
